PPPoE Setup

Configuring DSL Using PPPOE

  • PPPoE means “PPP over ethernet” which is a system that uses a username and password to authorize your dsl service.
  • PPPoE connections are set up the same as standard dynamic connections, just, when you set it up, you have to indicate that there is a PPPOE username and password. It’s really easy, and once it is set up, it will stay that way. You should only need to type the username and password once.

Configuring a Mac

This should work on any Mac running OSX.

  • Open “Network Preferences”.
  • On the left side, select “Ethernet”. That’s how we are connecting.
  • On the right side, select “Create PPPOE Service”. This will lead you to a configuration wizard.
  • For the service name, type “BrookeTel”
  • The username and password should be the ones we gave you.

That’s it, you’re ready to connect.

This should work on Windows Vista or newer (Windows 7 or Windows 8).
